About Me

Hi there.

I’m the evening homepage editor at ABCNews.com — think of me as the most boring cocktail-party host in the world.

Still interested? For about seven years, starting in 2001, I was a staff writer and editor at Newsweek magazine, where I covered tech culture, the arts and whatever else needed covering. I contributed to a half-dozen or so cover stories on topics ranging from teen depression to 9/11 to alternative medicine. I left Newsweek in 2008 to join the staff at Rolling Stone to cover the imploding music business and write profiles. I’ve written for People magazine, Time Out New York, Slate.com, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Variety and Salon.com, among others. Isn’t that fancy?

In addition to freelancing for a range of outlets, I’m currently cultivating an interest in pogonotrophy. And I play guitar in a Brooklyn hillybilly-ish band that is unnamed for the moment.
